What if Vaccine is not Developed For 'COVID-19'?
WHAT IF VACCINE IS NOT DEVELOPED FOR
'COVID-19'
________________________________________
- WHAT IS VACCINE AND ITS HISTORY?
- DEVELOPMENT OF VACCINE.
- WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO DEVELOP VACCINE FOR VIRUSES?
- IF 'COVID-19' VACCINE IS NOT DEVELOPED.
________________________________________
- WHAT IS VACCINE AND ITS HISTORY.
- A substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.
- A Vaccine is a Biological Preparation that improves immunity to a particular Disease.
1. (A) HISTORY OF VACCINE
- Historically Vaccines have been a 'Greatest Public Health Tool'
- The practice of immunisation dates back hundreds of years. Buddhist monks drank snake venom to confer immunity to snake bite and Variolation (smearing of a skin tear with cowpox to confer immunity to smallpox) was practiced in 17th century China. 'Edward Jenner' is considered the founder of Vaccinology in the West in 1796, after he inoculated a 13 year-old-boy with vaccinia virus (cowpox), and demonstrated immunity to smallpox. In 1798, the first smallpox vaccine was developed.
2. DEVELOPMENT OF VACCINE
LONG PROCESS
- Till Now i.e. 21st MAY 2020 there are 95 Vaccines under various stages of Development against 'COVID-19'. Out of which few Vaccines has started human trials.
- Pfizer Begins Human Trails of Possible Coronavirus Vaccine. It is largest Pharmaceutical Company($51.75 billion) in the world. It is a ray of hope to fight against 'COVID-19'.
- Oxford 'COVID-19' Vaccine's Human trails results will Arrive by JUNE, and till SEPTEMBER they might start with production if Vaccine works Successfully.
- According to WHO 2.5 million Lives are saved due to Vaccine every year.
- In 21st Century Vaccine Production and Development has increased due to New Technology, Advancement in Genomics and Improved Global Coordination have allowed Researchers to move at Unprecedented Speed (e.g. 'COVID-19' Gene Sequence was decoded by Chinese researchers till 10th or 11th January and made it publicly available to all so now All Researchers from around the world are creating Vaccine's on the Basis of the Gene Sequence provided by China) vaccine development remains an expensive and risky process.
LONG PROCESS
- It takes Months and even Years just to start HUMAN TRIALS of VACCINE.
- World's Fastest Vaccine was made in duration of 4YEARS.
- Vaccine Researchers around the World are racing to speed up their timeline for development, a process that typically takes years.
As this virus is spreading so drastically Companies/Universities are making Extraordinary Effort to Stagger Trails and, in some cases, Skip Essential Steps, such as 'ANIMAL TESTING'.
- There are 4 Phases to Approve Vaccine of which 37% Vaccines Fails in Phase 1, 69% in Phase 2, 42% in Phase 3, and 15% in Phase 4.
- That means only 10% Vaccines Pass the Trials and Get Approval for Human Use.
3. WHY IT IS DIFFICULT TO DEVELOP VACCINE FOR VIRUSES?
- Influenza is able to change itself from one month/year to the next so the natural infection or immunisation the previous year doesn't infect you the following year.
- HIV does that during a single infection. It continues to mutate inside the Body, so it's like you'er infected with a thousand different HIV strands.
APPROVED VACCINES FAIL TOO...
- After Passing through all the tests when Dengue Vaccine which was Developed at the end of 2015 by France's Pharmaceutical Company was brought in use for Humans. But when it was brought to Philippines for use instead of decreasing the Dengue Symptoms it increased it.
4. IF 'COVID-19' VACCINE IS NOT DEVELOPED
WHO envoy 'Dr. David Nabarro' Professor and Director of Global Health at Imperial College London, in an interview with CNN, gave startling signs for the possibility of the scenario.
There are some viruses that we still do not have vaccines against," Nabarro, WHO's COVID-19 special envoy, was quoted as saying by CNN. "We can't make an absolute assumption that a vaccine will appear at all, or if it does appear, whether it will pass all the tests of efficacy and safety."
"It's absolutely essential that all societies everywhere get themselves into a position where they are able to defend against the coronavirus as a constant threat and to be able to go about social life and economic activity with the virus in our midst," Nabarro told CNN.
No Vaccines
- HIV - 4 Decades and 32 Million Deaths later, world is still waiting for an HIV Vaccine.
- MALARIA- 23 Crore cases and ~4 Lakh Deaths Annually.
- Rhinoviruses and Adenoviruses- Cause Cold Symptoms.
- Dengue- Vaccine Developed recently but Failed in Field.
Effect
- There will be certain type of Barrier for Festivals Celebrated All Around the World, as you cannot be TOO Close to someone and use of Mask, Sanitizer, etc.
- There will be Great Impact on Economical Education Systems of World as there may be Work From Home and Online Lectures.
- Investments in Health Sector will Increase and there will be Great Development in Medical Field to Test Vaccine more Quickly and etc.
- But Like other Viruses we will Overcome this as well 'With or Without Vaccine'.
